Divriği Honey: More Than a Sweet Treat, a Healing Remedy

The Divriği district, situated 151 kilometers away from Sivas city center in eastern Türkiye, is renowned for its honey and rich historical heritage. This area, devoid of industrial establishments, hosts unique endemic plants and is hailed for the healing properties of its honey. Divriği honey, containing extracts from approximately 3,000 flower species, is lauded for its medicinal potential, rivaling the famed Anzer honey of Rize’s Anzer plateau, known for its nearly 5,000 floral extracts.

According to Divriği Mayor Hakan Gök, Divriği’s uniqueness extends beyond its architectural wonders like mansions, inns, baths, bridges, covered bazaars, and the renowned Divriği Ulu Mosque and Hospital. The district is witnessing a burgeoning trend in gastronomy that significantly influences tourism. Emphasizing the significance of honey consumption, Gök highlighted Divriği’s altitude range from 900 to 3,000 meters, leading to diverse floral species. He described Divriği honey as a blend of 2,500 to 3,000 flowers, asserting, “In truth, it’s not just honey; it’s a remedy.”
