France is currently experiencing shortages of certain drugs such as paracetamol and amoxicillin. Pharmacists have had difficulties obtaining drugs and have reported delays in delivery since the end of last year.
According to the authorities, the reason for the shortage in drugs supplied from China is that its factories are dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic. To solve the drug shortage in the country, the French government banned the sale of paracetamol-containing drugs online until the end of January.
Data from December shows that over 70% of pharmacies are experiencing a shortage of pediatric amoxicillin. Olivier Rosaire, a pharmacist living in Lyon, said, “If I wanted to be calm, to have a month or a month and a half of perspective, I would store a little and not spend my days trying to order drugs. Today, at 10 or 15 days, we cannot have any stock. These are very essential products much like water or food”
