The first general election held after England’s departure from the European Union, began in the UK. To elect the 650 members of the House of Commons and the new government, over 46 million registered voters in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, will head to polling stations until 22.00 local time.

Some polls published by the British press before the elections pointed out that the Conservative Party led by Sunak may face the heaviest defeat in history.
