Earthquake-caused rift in Hatay seen from satellite

During the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in Türkiye, a massive rift split a 35-hectare olive orchard in the middle of the Tepehan Village of Hatay’s Altınözü District. The satellite observed the 500-meter-long rift with a depth of about 30 meters.

Satellite photos that were taken before and after the earthquake reveal how the terrain has changed. Nearly all of the houses in the village were destroyed by the earthquake, and people are living on trucks and in tents.
