Earthquake Hits Southern Philippines

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Manay in Davao Oriental, on Mindanao Island in the Philippines, authorities said. The quake occurred at a depth of about 23 kilometers and was initially measured at 6.7 before being revised by the national seismology agency Phivolcs. No casualties or damage were reported, and no tsunami warning was issued. Officials warned that aftershocks and localized damage near the epicenter remain possible.
