Earthquake Housing Units Under Construction in Southeast of Türkiye

The foundation for 471 new earthquake-resistant housing units in Suruç, Şanlıurfa, near the Syrian border, has been laid. Built by Türkiye’s Housing Development Administration (TOKİ), the units consist of 36 blocks and are designed to replace homes damaged by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. The project is located in the rural Aligör neighborhood and follows a 5-story horizontal architecture on raft foundations, expected to be completed in one year. Local officials expressed satisfaction, highlighting the infrastructure benefits for Suruç, which has struggled with drainage issues.
