earthquake with 6.0-magnitude hits southwest china, 3 killed

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook Luxian County of Luzhou City, southwest China’s Sichuan Province. Three people were confirmed dead, and 60 others were sent to hospital. Among those hospitalized, three were seriously injured. More than 700 houses were collapsed, and nearly 7,000 affected residents have been relocated, and over 10,000 people have been shifted to temporary shelters. Some telecommunication base stations and cables were damaged. The Luzhou high-speed railway station has been closed. All coal mines have been ordered to halt underground operations and evacuate miners in shafts.

Search and rescue efforts continue.
