Earthquakes Shake California Coast

Two earthquakes, measuring 7.0 and 5.8 in magnitude, struck off the coast of California. The first quake, a 7.0 magnitude tremor, occurred 99 kilometers off Ferndale in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Minutes later, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit near Cobb, north of Santa Rosa.

The National Tsunami Center issued a warning covering 643 kilometers of the U.S. West Coast, from Oregon’s Dunes City to California’s San Francisco and San Jose, but it was rescinded shortly after.
