Electric ferries catch fire in Thailand

An explosion occurred in one of the eleven electric ferries connected to a charging unit on a pier by the Chao Phraya River in Thailand’s Samut Prakan province at 07:30 local time. Three ferries were destroyed when the fire that broke out after the violent explosion quickly spread to other ferries that were all linked together. The explosion is thought to have been caused by the battery on the ship.

The fire was extinguished shortly after, and no loss of life was reported.
