At the 11th Developing Eight Countries (D-8) Summit in Cairo, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the need for a Syria free of terrorism, where diverse religious, sectarian, and ethnic groups coexist peacefully. “The Syrian people need unity, solidarity, and reconciliation to rebuild their war-torn country,” Erdoğan stated, reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to stability in the region.
Erdoğan also advocated for expanding the D-8’s influence by welcoming new members, including Azerbaijan. Leaders from D-8 member states, along with representatives from Palestine, Lebanon, and Azerbaijan, attended the summit, which focused on regional stability and economic collaboration.
