The Estonian Navy attempted to detain the Jaguar, a British-sanctioned oil tanker linked to Russia, for allegedly sailing without a flag in the Baltic Sea.
Estonian Navy Commander Ivo Vark said the vessel, contacted near Naissaar Island, refused to cooperate and continued toward Russia. Estonia chose not to board the ship but escorted it to Russian waters. A video shows Estonian forces ordering the ship to change course, followed by claims that a Russian Su-35 jet intervened.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna called for “tougher and faster sanctions” on Russia, accusing it of operating a shadow fleet to bypass international restrictions.
