The European Parliament approved a €90 billion loan package for Ukraine to cover urgent budget and military needs in 2026–2027. The measure passed with 458 votes in favor, 140 against and 44 abstentions.
Of the total, €30 billion will provide macro-financial and budget support, while €60 billion will strengthen Ukraine’s defense and military procurement. EU officials said the loan, financed through joint borrowing, is expected to be repaid after Russia pays war reparations, and will cover roughly two-thirds of Ukraine’s projected financing needs.
