EU Commission President Leyen says Russia commits war crimes in Ukraine

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke at the EU Heads of State and Government, which will be held in Brussels on 20-21 October within the framework of the European Parliament Strasbourg General Assembly meetings. Describing Russia’s attacks on civilians in Ukraine as acts of terrorism and war crimes, Leyen said, “Russia’s attacks on civilian infrastructure, especially electricity grids, marks a new chapter in the already very cruel war. The international order is very clear. These are war crimes. With the coming of winter, attacks on civilian infrastructure aiming to cut water, electricity and heating for men, women and children are purely acts of terrorism. And we have to call it as such,” she said.
