EU Plans Trade Sanctions On Israel Over Gaza Massacre

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Brussels is preparing to re-impose customs duties on Israeli goods in response to the Gaza war and ongoing West Bank violations. She confirmed the move would suspend parts of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, under which 37 percent of Israel’s €42.6 billion trade with the EU in 2024 enjoyed preferential treatment.

Kallas warned the step would carry a “high cost for Israel” but admitted approval would require majority support among EU states. She urged counterparts to either back the measure or propose credible alternatives, stressing the situation is “catastrophic and unsustainable.”
