Nearly 50 leaders opened the 7th European Political Community summit in Copenhagen, focusing on European defence and the war in Ukraine. Host Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned Russia “will not stop unless forced to stop” and called for immediate steps to make Europe stronger and deter further aggression.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron urged tougher measures on Russian activity, including air defence and sanctions, while Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that Ukraine’s defeat would threaten Europe’s future.
