A forest fire in Goto, Nagasaki Prefecture, prompted authorities to issue an evacuation warning to 1,534 residents in 924 households. The blaze began during a garbage burning operation and spread rapidly due to dry conditions.
Fire crews and Japan’s Self-Defense Forces were deployed to contain the flames. No casualties were reported as of now. Japan has faced a series of wildfires this year, with previous incidents in Iwate, Ehime, Okayama, and Miyazaki.
