A powerful explosion rocked the Liberian-flagged container ship “YM Mobility” at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, one of China’s busiest ports, on Monday afternoon. The blast, which occurred at 13:40 local time, was captured on camera, showing cargo being scattered, followed by flames and thick smoke.
Chinese media reported that the explosion created a shock wave felt up to one kilometer away. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. The ship, owned by a Taiwanese shipping company, was reportedly carrying dangerous goods at the time of the incident. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
