Extreme Heat in India Kills At Least 53

 

A severe heatwave gripping India for the past two weeks has resulted in numerous fatalities, particularly in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, where temperatures have soared to 50 degrees Celsius.

In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll has risen to 33 over the last three days. In Odisha, an official from the state Special Relief Commissioner reported 99 suspected heatstroke deaths in the past 72 hours, with 20 confirmed so far.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as the extreme temperatures pose a significant threat to life in the affected regions.
