Eylem Tok’s Extradition Hearing in Boston Continues

In Boston, the second hearing for Eylem Tok’s extradition to Türkiye ended with her detention upheld. Tok is accused of smuggling her son, Timur Cihantimur, to the USA after he caused the death of Oğuz Murat Aci by driving without a license in Istanbul. Tok’s lawyers plan to apply for bail next week. Prosecutor Kristin Kearney noted additional charges against Tok, including evidence tampering and failing to ensure an alcohol test for her son.

Judge Donald L. Cabell scheduled the next hearing for late August. Post-hearing, Esat Gök, representing the Aci family, expressed frustration over the lack of a decision but praised the prosecutor’s thorough preparation.

Timur Cihantimur remains detained, with his lawyers contesting his conditions and seeking bail. No date has been set for his next hearing.
