Investigations into the tragic plane crash at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport revealed that the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) plane involved lacked authorization to access the runway. Toshiyuki Onura, Deputy Director General of Japan’s Civil Aviation Bureau, attributed the accident to pilot error, highlighting the absence of permission documented in the communication records for the JCG aircraft.
The JCG responded, noting inconsistencies between the pilot’s statement to inspectors and the communication records. They pledged full cooperation with police and transportation authorities for the ongoing investigation.
