Selen Tıraşoğlu, a 17-year-old vocational high school student in Antalya, Türkiye, works as a mechanic alongside her father in the city’s industrial zone. Having grown up in the workshop, she now performs tasks from vehicle maintenance to removing and reinstalling transmissions.
Tıraşoğlu said customers are often surprised at first but later congratulate her after seeing her work. Named “Apprentice of the Year” during 2025 Ahilik Week events, she hopes to open her own repair shop in the future and encourages more girls to enter the profession.
