Fertile Berçin and Karataş Plateaus Offer Stunning View in Türkiye

The Berçin and Karataş plateaus, which are located on the 1,589-kilometer tall Ilgaz Mountains in the borders of Türkiye’s Kastamonu and Çankırı provinces and have been the source of income for citizens engaged in animal husbandry for many years, offer an enchanting view.

Beyza Kılıç, who came to visit her grandfather, who was engaged in animal husbandry at the Karataş Plateau on the skirts of Ilgaz Mountain, said, “I graze my animals here. I came to Karataş Plateau with my grandfather. This place is very beautiful, I liked it very much.”

“I currently have 35-40 animals. When I wake up in the morning, I have breakfast, then I clean the place where the animals lie. Then we breastfeed the calves. Then I milk the cows. Then we walk behind the animals until evening. When evening comes, we milk the cows again. This is how our day goes. We produce and sell products such as oil, yogurt, butter. We make a living from these,” said Abdullah Konuk.
