A fire broke out on Saturday at the Coronado Hotel in the El Poble-sec district of Barcelona, Spain. Those trapped in the smoke and flames escaped by jumping from the windows on the 3rd floor of the hotel. By placing mattresses under the windows, the witnesses tried to prevent the jumpers from falling onto the ground. A total of 9 people were injured in the fire, 3 of whom were in serious condition, local sources reported.
While the cause of the fire is not yet known, the police launched an investigation into the incident.
