Fire at Children’s Hospital Kills 6 Babies in India

Six of the 12 babies receiving treatment at a children’s hospital in New Delhi, India, died due to a fire. Rescue teams said that the surviving babies were transferred to different hospitals and one of them was connected to a respirator. The owner of the hospital escaped, said police.

Delhi fire chief Atul Garg stated that the fire spread quickly after the oxygen cylinders in the hospital exploded.

“The cause of the incident is being investigated. Whoever is responsible for this negligence will not go unpunished,” said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
