Fire at Panama Canal Miraflores lock

A fire broke out in one of the machinery tunnels in the upper chamber of the Panama Canal’s Miraflores locks, according to a written statement issued by the Panama Canal Administration. The passage of ships through the canal’s Miraflores lock was temporarily halted as a security precaution, and the Panama Canal Fire Department responded to the fire.

The other locks in the canal are not closed to transportation and are currently operating normally.
