fire damages part of Rome’s historical Iron Bridge

A fire damaged the part of Rome’s famed Iron Bridge, built in 1863, on the Tiber River in Italy. The fire was caused by a damaged gas pipe, authorities said. There was a power outage for hours due to the fire in the surrounding areas of the incident. The bridge remained closed after the fire was extinguished.

The bridge is formally called as Ponte dell’ Industria (Industry Bridge). It connects the densely populated Ostiense and Portuense neighbourhoods.
