A fire sparked by a caravan at a campsite near Valdevaqueros beach in Tarifa, Spain, spread rapidly, prompting the evacuation of nearby beaches, hotels, and campsites. Thick smoke billowed over the coastline as emergency crews evacuated tourists and sunbathers. Tarifa Mayor Antonio Santos called it the fastest-spreading fire he had ever seen. The fire, which started along the N-340 highway, has forced the closure of at least 9 km of the road and is spreading through pine forests and farmland.
