Fire in Çanakkale Rages for 14 Hours, Aerial Efforts Continue

A fire that started on agricultural land near Kumköy village in Çanakkale’s Eceabat district has burned out of control for 14 hours. Breaking out at around 4:05 PM yesterday, the blaze spread to a forested area, with strong winds hampering control efforts. Overnight, 540 personnel, 94 water tankers, and ground vehicles fought the fire, aided by a night-vision helicopter. As daylight returned, helicopters resumed aerial interventions. Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı is on-site overseeing the operations.
