First ever Libyan-Turkish hospital to serve war-torn public

The Libyan-Turkish Hospital, which opened on November 28 in Misrata, Libya, assists the health system’s survival after years of civil war in the country. The hospital has 13 clinics, 4 operating rooms, a 120-bed capacity, and a fully equipped ambulance service.

Sevim Kara, nursing services manager of the hospital, said, “The entire team, in fact, all medical branches, will be Turkish physicians. In other words, if we go without sampling, the departments of otorhinolaryngology, general surgery, cardiology, heart surgery, radiology, pediatrics, and all branches consist of Turkish physicians. There are competent Turkish nurses in each department. Turkish nurses, specialized in their fields, work in every department of this hospital. In this sense, we actually brought the whole system of Turkey here,” she said.
