The team consisting of billionaire Jared Isaacman, military pilot Scott Poteet and SpaceX engineers Anna Menon and Sarah Gillis, who are expected to perform the first private spacewalk in history, has set off. The Dragon spacecraft that will take the team into space as part of the Polaris Dawn mission was successfully launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida with a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket at 05:23 local time.
The team will conduct research on the effects of space flights and radiation on human health and test the laser-based communication capabilities of Starlink satellites.
