Rescue teams in Laos have successfully reached five of the seven treasure hunters trapped inside a flooded cave since May 20. The group originally entered the complex in Xaisomboun province to hunt and search for gold before sudden floodwaters cut off their exit. Battling heavy rains and passages as narrow as 50 centimeters, a joint force of Laotian and Thai experts—including veterans of the famous 2018 Tham Luang rescue—used high-capacity pumps to lower water levels and reach the survivors. The rescued individuals are now receiving food and medical care, while diving operations continue for the two men who remain missing.
