“Flag March” protest in Gaza

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas called for the Palestinian flag to be hoisted in Al-Aqsa Mosque before the “Flag March” to be held by a group of fanatical Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem on May 29. Upon the call of Hamas and Palestinian groups, protests were held on May 28 in various regions in the Gaza Strip such as Al-Maghazi camp, Al-Nuseirat camp, Al-Maghazi camp, Al-Bureij camp and Deir Al-Balah city for the Palestinian flag to be hoisted over the Masjid al-Aqsa. The demonstrators held Palestinian flags and banners that read “We will not leave Al-Aqsa” and “Al-Aqsa is not for sale”. Hamas Leader Dr. Ghassan Wishah called on the people of Jerusalem to gather at Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent the settlers from entering its courtyards, in his speech at the rally in the Al-Nuseirat camp. Wishah also called on the United Nations (UN) and the international community to take action to stop Israel’s attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
