Flash floods hit Indian City of Chennai, submerging streets in downtown.  Indian meteorologists have announced that the city has received the highest rainfall in a 24-hour period since 2015. Chennai Municipality issued a flood warning, stating that the hatches of two dams in the region will be opened to drain excess water.  The municipality has ordered evacuation for residents of the low-altitude Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts before the water is released. Education and training have been suspended for two days in the region.
