Eleven people died, 32 others were injured after heavy rain and flash floods caused landslides in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, authorities said. The flash floods ripped through vehicles and trees, where many households were flooded. Search and rescue teams evacuated people trapped in their houses and cars, authorities added. The city was covered in mud, causing great material loss. The region was left without electricity, and the death toll is feared to increase.
