flash floods, landslides kill 4 in eastern India

Floods and landslides were caused by heavy rains in the Garo Hills region of India’s Megalaya state. A total of four people were killed in the landslide that occurred in the village of Jebalgre in the Garo Hills, three of whom were from the same family. There was a 2-year-old baby among those killed, according to reports.

The Ruga River in the region overflowed as a result of heavy rains, and the wooden bridge connecting Jijika and Megua collapsed. Further, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued excessive precipitation warning for Arunachal Pradesh on June 10-11, as well as Assam and Meghalaya, for the next five days.
