flash floods, landslides tear roads in South Africa

Heavy rains in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province caused flooding and landslides. Hundreds of people in the state were evacuated from their homes, and many houses and businesses were damaged. “The biggest impact so far is expected in the coastal and northeastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal,” said state official Sipho Hlomuka.

Last month, 448 people died in the floods and more than 6,800 people were left homeless in the country.
