Floating Islands to Be Repositioned in Middle of Çekihan Dam Again in Adıyaman

The continuous displacement of floating islands in the Çelikhan Çat Dam in Adıyaman province of Türkiye due to the wind and changing water levels resulted in the islands washing ashore, leading authorities to take action. Within the scope of the work to be initiated in May, when the water level is at its highest, the islands will be fixed to the middle part of the dam with environmentally friendly chains and concrete.

According to authorities, the surface area of the islands floating on the dam waters dropped from 100 decares to only 2 in about 30 years and there are currently around 15 of them, which vary between 50 and 500 square meters in size, remaining.
