The heavy rains around Australia killed a citizen, by drowning them in their vehicle, while another citizen went missing. In some parts of the country, precipitation has been 4 times the average in October in the last 24 hours. Evacuation orders were issued in four states in the country.
At least 500 houses were submerged by the floodwaters throughout the country. In Victoria, the state most affected by the flood, roads turned into lakes, education was interrupted in schools, 3,000 homes and businesses were left without electricity. In Tasmania, rivers overflowed after heavy rain within 24 hours. In the town of Forbes, New South Wales, 600 people have been called to evacuate.
