Reconnaissance flights were conducted over the flooded district near the Yusufeli Dam to boost tourism and develop paragliding facilities. The dam, Türkiye’s tallest, submerged 7 villages and district centers while generating energy. The new district center, situated above the old one, offers breathtaking lake views. Mayor Eyüp Aytekin aims to enhance tourism by introducing paragliding and other adventure sports like canoeing and rafting.
Paragliding pilot Bayram Yücel recently soared from Karadağ’s foothills, reaching heights of 1,350 meters, gliding for 30 minutes over the dam lake and the new district center before safely landing by the lakeside.
