Five people were killed after flooding caused by heavy rains hit Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu state in eastern India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert as low-pressure area forms over the Southeast Bay of Bengal. Education is suspended across Chennai, and officials have advised against travelling.
