Floods hit Ivory Coast and Ghana: 71 Killed

Severe flooding triggered by relentless heavy rains has claimed at least 59 lives in Ivory Coast and another 12 in neighboring Ghana. In Ivory Coast, search operations remain underway across heavily affected areas, including the economic capital of Abidjan. Government spokesman Amadou Coulibaly warned that authorities are deeply concerned the death toll could climb even higher as rescue efforts continue. Across the border in Ghana, submerged infrastructure has severed access to major cities like Accra, forcing overwhelmed emergency responders to request military assistance. With both nations reeling from the disaster, meteorological agencies are urging the public to brace for further downpours expected throughout the week.
