Floods Kill 17 in Indonesia’s North Sumatra

Severe floods and landslides triggered by days of heavy rain have killed 17 people and injured 61 in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province. In Sibolga, authorities reported five deaths, three injuries, and four missing residents. Nearby Central Tapanuli saw four deaths and around 2,000 homes inundated.

South Tapanuli reported eight deaths, 58 injuries, and more than 2,800 people sheltering in temporary centers. Landslides damaged dozens of homes in North Tapanuli, while two bridges were destroyed. Hundreds of houses were also flooded in Padang Sidempuan.
