An attacker injured five people, including three children, with a knife in front of a school in Parnell Square in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Authorities said that a 5-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were in serious condition.
After it was revealed that the attack was carried out by a foreign national, the Irish public took to the streets in Parnell Square and clashed with police who tried to disperse them. The angry crowd set fire to the tram and some vehicles in the area.
According to the police, the act of the detained attacker, who injured himself as well, was not related to terrorism.
