Japanese authorities announced that at least 600 hectares of land were reduced to ashes in the ongoing forest fire in Ofunato, Japan, while 84 structures were damaged and police found 1 burned body in the area.
Authorities also reported that over 500 people were placed in temporary evacuation centers, more than 500 households experienced power outages and some train services were canceled.
Firefighting efforts continue with the support of Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) personnel.
