Forest fire in south of France

A forest fire in the Gironde region in southwest France has destroyed 1,500 hectares of land. Thousands of tourists were evacuated to safe areas. Gironde region administration stated that 4 aircraft and many firefighters from different regions intervened in the fire.

The roads were closed to entrances and exits and hundreds of people were evacuated in Landiras, where the flames could not be brought under control yet and the most severe fire was experienced in the region. In the La Teste-de-Buch region, at least 6,000 people have been evacuated from the surrounding camp areas. At least 400 firefighters responded to the flames and the fire could not be brought under control due to strong winds, local sources stated.
