France is battling flames at two different points in the Gironde region in southwest of the country. 500 people were evacuated from their homes due to the fire around the town of Landiras, where the most severe fire in the region was experienced and the roads were closed. The flames have burned 2,100 hectares of land so far.
The fire near the Dune du Pilat dune in La Teste-de-Buch in the Arcachon Bay region has not yet been brought under control. So far, 1,750 hectares of land have been destroyed, while 60 more people have been evacuated from the campsites. Yesterday, 6,000 people were evacuated from 5 campsites in the surrounding areas.
Extinguishing works at two points continue with 6 planes and about a thousand firefighters.
