Forest fire in Spain: 3 thousand people evacuated

Around 3,000 people were evacuated from Spain’s Tenerife Island due to a forest fire ignited by high temperatures and strong winds. The fire, declared a high-level emergency, led to assistance from the Spanish Military Emergency Unit. President Fernando Clavijo stated that efforts to control previous fires in August had not completely extinguished them, emphasizing the need to prevent the fire from spreading. High temperatures posed a further challenge, with a heat warning issued. In August, fires affected 11 towns, burning 11,600 hectares of land and displacing 26,000 island residents.
