Forest Fire in Switzerland’s Bitsch Region Prompts Evacuations

A forest fire in the Bitsch region of Switzerland’s Valais canton, near the Italian border, is yet to be brought under control, leading to the evacuation of at least 200 people. Mario Schaller, who oversees firefighting efforts, confirmed no injuries or damage to buildings. However, officials are concerned as 100 hectares of land have been burned, and it may take days to extinguish the fire. The district police have started a large-scale investigation into the fire’s cause.
