Former Ghanaian Beauty Queen Sets World’s Longest Singing Record

Former Ghana beauty queen Afua Asantewaa broke a new record by completing the 5-day singing marathon that she started on December 24. Asantewaa, who was given a 20-minute break every 4 hours during the marathon, which was held in Accra, sang 125 songs in 126 hours and 52 minutes. She surpassed Indian Sunil Waghmare, who held the record for the longest singing session with 105 hours in 2012.

Asantewaa stated after the marathon that she wants to have her name officially written in the Guinness Book of Records and added, “I hope to be an inspiration to all women to step out of their comfort zone and try new opportunities. You can achieve whatever you set your mind to.”
