Former Honduras President Hernandez taken into custody

Police conducted a raid to Former Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez’s home in the Honduras’s capital city Tegucigalpa, after the US demanded the extradition of Hernandez. During the raid, Former President Hernandez handcuffed on charges of drug trafficking and taken into custody. Hernandez is accused of involvement in a drug trafficking ring that includes his brother Tony Hernandez, who was sentenced to life time imprisonment in the US last year.

On the other hand, Hernandez denied the charges against him, and argued that he had did everything he could to fight against drug trafficking. Meanwhile, Hernandez had the support of the US government during the administration of Former US President Donald Trump. However, the US Department of State (DOS) announced on last week that Hernandez was added to the list of people banned from entering the US due to corruption allegations related to drug trafficking. Juan Orlando Hernandez was served as President of Honduras from 2014 to January 2022.
